Mission Statement

Legal Aid Québec is a network of 477 lawyers operating in 104 offices with more than 1,062 staff members whose mission is to ensure access to justice for eligible individuals living throughout the province of Québec. 

The Commission des services juridiques is the organization responsible for administering the Act respecting legal aid and the provision of certain other legal services  – (RLRQ, c. A-14). 

Legal aid services are provided by 11 regional community legal centres across Québec, which manage the services offered by the local legal aid offices. 

For over 50 years, thousands of Québec residents have placed their trust in Legal Aid Québec lawyers each year. These lawyers use their expertise to help citizens assert their rights with a professional, humane, and socially responsive approach. 

As a mixed system, more than 240,000 legal aid requests are processed annually. These include cases handled both by permanent lawyers within the legal aid network and by private practice lawyers who accept legal aid mandates.
